    What You Will Do

    Human Resources, Institutional Training Services (HR-ITS) is seeking a Training Specialist 3. The selectee will be part of a fast paced and dynamic team of training professionals, primarily deployed to support the Environment, Safety, Health, Quality, Safeguards, and Security Directorate’s (ALDESHQSS) organization. The ALDESHQSS training team partners with Responsible Line Managers (RLM), Subject Matter Experts (SME), Document Control (DC) and SI-ITS to provide innovative, quality training products and services that enable LANL workers to attain and sustain operational excellence while working in a safe, secure, and compliant manner.

    A high-level position, driving processes, communications and course design, development and improvements executed with attention to details, time sensitive deliverables and a customer centric focus.

    Duties include:

    Work directly with customers, stakeholders to assure regulatory integrity of training programs.

    Instructional course development using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT / ADDIE), adult learning principles, and performance-based training techniques.

    Develop and review personnel qualification standards with subject matter experts to identify and align task requirements with appropriate training rigor.

    Manage and track training programs across diverse business objectives.

    Drive process improvements and resolutions to an assortment of problems where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors.

    Respond to Ad hoc customer requests, contribute to group projects and advance organizational objectives.

    Apply a multitude of Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, orders, manuals, standards, and contractual requirements.

    Foster a mutually respectful team environment by clearly communicating ideas, respect and consideration for the views others and team support through joint efforts to continually innovative ways to improve work.

    What You Need

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    Demonstrated experience in applying a systematic approach to training (SAT) in the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of training programs.

    Demonstrated experience in researching, assembling, and/or evaluating information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting training program policies or programs; sound recommendations and providing practical solutions to complex issues.

    Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite and online course development software applications.

    Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with staff at all organizational and educational levels.

    Desired Skills:

    Technical and working knowledge of DOE O 426.2 Personnel selection, training, qualification and certification requirements for DOE nuclear facilities, LANL P 781-1 Conduct of Training and LANL P 328-2 Independent Assessments.

    Extensive experience with learning management systems and online course development.

    LANL TSQP qualifications as a Nuclear Facility Training Specialist and classroom instructor or the experience and abilities to attain TSQP qualifications.

    Education: Position typically requires a BA/BS, MA/MS in a related field and a minimum of six years of related experience, and or equivalent combination or education and experience.

    Additional Details:

    Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

    *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

    New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

    Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
