Last month was facilitation tips for in-person training, so now it's time to talk about facilitation tips for virtual training!

(And just to make sure we are on the same page...virtual training or virtual instructor-led training is a real-time, instructor-led learning experience conducted entirely online through video conferencing or other collaboration tools.)

But wait? Don't facilitators apply the same techniques for virtual training that they use for in-person facilitation?

While the basics of facilitation are the same for both audiences, speakers facilitating to a virtual audience (via Zoom or similar platform) have a whole list of other things to consider such as:

  • Understanding how to use the presentation platform
  • How to interact with virtual attendees in a way that is authentic and engaging
  • The need for a co-facilitator or person to monitor the chat/Q&A function
  • Attendee engagement options such as those within the platform and other technology integrations you can use for polls, quizzes, etc.
  • Webinar wins - how to engage with your audience when you can't even see the attendees

We will talk about all this AND MORE during our time together.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Nicole has thousands of hours of live and virtual facilitation experience gained from 13+ years of experience in Talent Development. Over the years, she has led everything from systems training to executive leadership development workshops, learning along the way how fun (and powerful a tool) facilitation can be.

Recently, she left her position as the Director of Learning & Development at the National Wildlife Federation to start her own Talent Development business which she is looking forward to launching in October 2025.

Nicole earned her Master’s of Education in Training & Development from Pennsylvania State University, is a Prosci Certified Practitioner, DiSC Certified Trainer, and ELI Certified Instructor of Civil Treatment.

When not working, you can usually find her hiking or trail running in the Sandia Mountains.
