Volunteer Opportunities
Board of Directors Positions - While our 2026 Board Elections season has officially closed, we do have 3 open board positions that we still could use help filling, with the VP of Finance role being the biggest need for next year. We are offering an extended deadline of 12/31/25 for anyone who is interested in one of the three roles below:
- Vice President of Strategic Partnerships
- Vice President of Administration
- Vice President of Finance - Biggest Need
Board Member Responsibilities - While each role has specific responsibilities, the following applies to all roles:
- Commit 4-6 hours per month to board duties/chapter events (exception: the Director of Social Media role only require 3-4 hours per month).
- Participate in monthly 1 hour board meetings that are held on a weeknight (M, T, or Th) via Zoom.
- Participate in the annual strategic planning session. We ask all board members to attend in-person at a venue in ABQ for a 2.5 hr planning session. Usually held in January.

IMPORTANT: All board roles are unpaid, volunteer positions which is why we are looking to build a robust board with a total of 10 positions (3 current board members are returning in 2026). The idea is that if we can get more board members, then each person's volunteer time is manageable.
Vice President (VP) of Strategic Partnerships - This role spearheads chapter sponsorship and any fundraising efforts for the year.
Vice President of Administration (VP of Admin) - Serves as the chapter’s main administrative support by taking notes at board meetings, serving as the key organizer of the chapter CARE application, acting as liaison with ATD National, and ensuring we stay on top of chapter administrative requirements.
Vice President (VP) of Finance - Manages the operational finances of the chapter. This includes creating an annual operating budget, managing the chapter’s bank accounts, maintaining our tax-exempt non-profit status, and ensuring that we maintain adequate insurance coverage.
Other Volunteer Opportunities - Can't commit to a board position, but still want to volunteer? Here some of the volunteer roles that we are looking for...
- 2026 Event Speaker - Propose your own topic or we can offer recommendations. We simply ask that all professional development even topics align to the ATD Capability Model.
- Content Contributor - Write articles for monthly newsletter, create event flyers, make short videos for social media, etc.)
- ATD NM Website Update - Assist the VP of Technology in updating the chapter website.
- Events Support - Assist the VP of Events in planning & executing events (or just one event if that's all you have capacity for), creating event flyers, or act as a greeter at our in-person events.
